1. Components Required:
1 x NEMA23 Belt & Pinion Actuator https://openbuildspartstore.com/nema-23-belt-pinion-actuator-bundle/
1 x Xtension Limit Switch https://openbuildspartstore.com/xtension-limit-switch-kit/
1x PIR motion sensor
1 x PCM5102A Module
1 x WS2812 RGB LED Ring/Strip
1 x Amplifier and Speakers
1 x Halloween Skeleton or other scary monster to move
1 x Porch with Halloween Candy and something to hide the skeleton behind
2. Implementation
Mount the NEMA23 Belt & Pinion actuator to the ceiling of your porch (temporary install for Halloween), and hang a skeleton prop from the carriage as shown. The trick works great if you can hide the skeleton behind a corner or plant or something similar so its not obviously visible when you approach. Making use of a Passive Infrared Motion Detector to detect when someone approaches, we rapidly deploy the skeleton from its hiding place! Using a PCM5102 i2S Audio Module we can play some jumpscare sounds as MP3 files over amplified speakers to increase the tension even more! We've also wired up a WS2812 LED Ring - which you can mount to cast a little theatricle colored light on the skeleton, dark blue, or deep red maybe
Once the PIR does not detect motion anymore, it moves the skeleton back to its hiding place, turns off the LEDs and waits again, for the next Trick-Or-Treater
