1. Components Required:
1 x NEMA23 Linear Actuator - Belt Driven 1500mm https://openbuildspartstore.com/v-slot-nema-23-linear-actuator-belt-driven/
3 x Single L-Brackets https://openbuildspartstore.com/l-bracket/
2. Implementation
Attaching a Linear actuator to the wall, in such a way that the carriage can be connected to your sliding / barn door hardware - can be used to automate any sliding door.
Due to the varying nature of door hardware available on the market, this project won't go into depth on the specifics of attaching to existing hardware, but in essence its just about joining the moving carriage to the door in a way that would transfer the sliding motion. Be sure to checkout the modular parts catalog on https://openbuildspartstore.com/ you are sure to find any plates, brackets, screws and other hardware you need to mount it all as needed
A homing switch is installed on the door to allow it to home on power up (find the ZERO position), allowing our custom firmware to move the door from ZERO (0mm) in the CLOSED position, to some value, say [ABS]1100mm to open the door.
Wiring
Wire up the motor and homing switch as described in our documentation:
Motors: https://docs.openbuilds.com/doku.php?id=docs:blox:connect-stepper-motors
Homing Switch: https://docs.openbuilds.com/doku.php?id=docs:blox:connect-limit-switches
In this example we've added a PIR motion sensor module as well, allowing you to automatically open the door when a person approaches the door. You can expand on this creatively, using different sensors, or a wall mounted button, etc
